Vintage Bolt on Neck Construction Course Structure

The standard bolt on neck construction course will show you how to construct a bolt on neck instrument to true vintage specifications for an electric guitar or bass made famous by the world's largest guitar producer, Fender !?needs a R?! this style of construction remains the same to this very day, there have been many different iterations of the design produced in many different countries to differing constructions methods, although the main USA and Mexican instruments still retain the core principals of this construction method and this remains consistent to this day.

A single action bowed truss rod in either a single piece maple neck or a rosewood and maple neck construction style. Either installed from the back of the neck or in the case of a rosewood fingerboard it can be installed from the back of the neck or underneath the fingerboard this method can also be used to make a full maple neck from two pieces if a skunk stripe on the reverse of the neck is unwanted.

We will be offering a range of instruments based around this style of construction from this famous the manufacturer in different body styles for both guitar and bass so you can choose your favorite shape and instrument or even combine certain elements to make something unique like the models available in fenders(R) pawnshop range or make your own thing with custom shaped parts.

If you would like to choose a body style outside these standard models please get in touch as we can adapt the course for you to accommodate your requirements and make a semi bespoke course for you. Hollow body models are available as an optional extra if you are happy to put in extra time before or during the evenings of the course to make this construction possible.

We offer our courses with all the timbers, hardware parts, paint, and other materials provided, so no unwanted surprises in the costs. The price you see if the price you pay, we are able to make personal modifications to the courses we offer so that you are able to construct the instrument of your dreams, within the scope of this construction method.

Standard Specification

This course is designed to give you the experience of constructing a vintage style instrument made by the most popular instrument manufacture and to educate you about this style of construction whist educating you about the others construction methods available. The aim is to get you to build as much of the instrument as possible by hand, this includes such items as the truss rod and pickups. You will be carving the neck and producing the body contours yourself, there will be machining backups if you are unable to do this.

These new building courses will be designed to be an experience to get you into building your own instruments with the resources you have available, we will look into the other methods that you can use to make the instruments components so you have an understanding of all the methods you can use, whilst we will be using specialized jig's on the course to help you this will not be fully machine based course, as much as possible will be hand tool based using specialist jigs to help speed up production whilst insuring accuracy.

We will look into the other neck construction methods in detail so you have a basic understanding of them as on this course I would like to cover everything about instrument construction and introduce you to as many processes as possible so you are able to make informed choices when it comes time to build on your own and invest in tools and jigs.

I aim to make this course my flagship educational course, I want this to be the best start anyone can have, so if you have a passion for learning about instrument construction this course will offer the most in-depth look at instrument building.

All the builds have a standard specification and price structure, the cost you see will provide you with an instrument finished to that design specification.
