Carved Top Glue in Neck Build

Welcome visitors to your site with a short, engaging introduction. Double click to edit and add your own text.

This is the most advanced instrument-building course that we will be offering, it will be the most complex and hands-on course that we will do. That will take you through the whole process of producing a carved top instrument by hand! The first courses of this type that we will be offering will be producing instruments in the style of a Gibson Les Paul model. It will be a very intricate course where you will have to pay attention to the tasks at hand, there will be a lot of small details and numerous fiddly tasks that will need to be completed on this course, we will be looking to produce as much as possible from blank blocks and roughed-out materials so that there will be a large amount of finishing work to prepare items for use.

The aim of this course is to make everything as hands-on as possible working with no semi-made parts to assist you, you will be making everything from scratch on this course. You will be able to produce a carved maple top for your instrument from either figured or plain timber. You will also have the opportunity to install standard inlays by hand, either block or trapezoid shape inlays can be done by hand if you wish to have advanced inlays we can assist you in creating these for your instrument although this will take away the hand element of installing them. PRS (R) style inlays are very small and best suited to CNC production so whist you can have this it will have to be produced via the CNC and then installed by hand. You will have access to our machining capabilities to produce your own headstock embellishments, mother-of-pearl signature designs specifically made for your instrument or anything other design you want.

In time we would like to offer other alternative carved top models including those from other manufacturers Yamaha SG PRS double cut and single(R) Most other glue-in-neck constructions can be placed into one of our other courses. Any flat-top glue-in-neck shape can be placed in a standard course with the corresponding neck construction that is appropriate for it. For any of those who wish to build flat body glue-in-neck builds like the SG and junior types of instruments depending on the interest in the glue-in-neck models we may open up a specific course for them in the future.
